Buddy Holly

Charles Hardin Holley, född 7 september 1936 i Lubbock, Texas, död 3 februari 1959 i en flygolycka över Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, var en amerikansk rockartist, gitarrist och sångare.

Buddy Holly spelade rock'n'roll under bara två år, men rikligheten i hans inspelade material gjorde ett bestående intryck på populärmusiken. Inte minst The Beatles hade Buddy Holly som stor inspirationskälla. Det faktum att Hollys grupp (The Crickets) hade ett insektsnamn (syrsorna) ska ha inspirerat Liverpoolgruppen till att ta världens mest bekanta popgruppsnamn.

Holly omkom i en flygkrasch tillsammans med Ritchie Valens, J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson och flygplanets pilot Roger Peterson.

Buddy Holly invaldes i Rock and Roll Hall of Fame under första intagningsåret 1986.
